Dussehra is celebrated to commemorate the triumph of good over evil as Lord Rama killed Ravana on this day, according to Hindu mythology.
With great enthusiasm among people to watch Ravana effigies set ablaze, a tragic accident took place during the Ravan Dahan wherein the burning statue of Ravana fell on the crowd leading to many people getting injured on Wednesday, 5th October, in Haryana's Yamunanagar.
The incident took place after some individuals from the gathered crowd, despite many attempts from the police to hold them back, tried to collect burnt wood from the statue, which led to the falling of the 70 feet effigy.
This led to a chaotic situation in the area and a lot of injured spectators, but there was no loss of lives reported.
