AAP-Congress alliance confirmed for Mayor elections, tough challenge for BJP

Congress and AAP start gearing up for the political fight against BJP as they plan to unite for the Mayoral Seat of Chandigarh.

With three leading parties, BJP, AAP and Congress engaging in a three-way fight, the preparations for the elections of the Mayoral seat in Tricity, has seen many twists and turns till now. However, in yet another surprising turn, the hand is planning to pick up the broom as it’s choice of weapon in the fight against the lotus for Chandigarh’s mayor elections.

If the coalition is declared then AAP’s Kuldeep Teeta shall be leading to be the Mayor, while Congress’s Gurpreet Singh Gabi and Nirmala Devi will be competing for the two other posts. It is to be noted that both Congress and AAP have already announced their respective representatives, and are competing for all the three posts, namely the Mayoral Seat, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

With the declaration of this alignment, Congress’s representative for the Mayoral Seat, Jasbir Singh Bunty, may have to take back his nomination. Additionally, the two parties are yet to discuss their strategy for the Chandigarh LokSabha seat.
