Panjab University last month advertised applications for the post of Vice Chancellor after the resignation of former VC Raj Kumar. As March 24 was the last date to apply, the varsity received 140 applications for the same, amongst 20 are from the PU campus.

Amongst campus, besides from Official Working VC Prof. Renu Vig, many other professors including Navdeep Goyal, Rajeev Kumar Puri, Devinder Singh, Sukhbir Kaur, Sanjay Kaushik, Sk Sharma have also applied for the same. Other than that, Prof. SK Tomar, currency VC of JC Bose University is also in the race.. Many other Vice chancellors of GNDU, SK Mehta University, Central University of Haryana, Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State University other universities have also registered themselves.

The New VC will be appointed by the Chancellor i.e. Vice President of India from the names recommended by the Panel (Selection committee) by taking the process further.
