To provide an uninterrupted supply and prevent the wastage of water new guidelines are released in Chandigarh.
Use of a hosepipe to water the lawns or washing of the vehicles during morning hours will result in a fine of Rs. 5250 with effect from the 15th of April. In case the citizen does not pay the fine, the amount will be added to their water bill. People may also lose the water connection in case of repeated offence. The use of booster pumps is also restricted. Residents are advised to use buckets instead.
A 48-hour notice will be given to residents in the case of overflowing tanks or leaking pipes. In case it's not fixed a challan will be issued. Various teams will be visiting different areas between 5:30 am to 9:00 am to observe the violation of these guidelines. This campaign of the Municipal Corporation will continue till June 30.
