Over the last nine years significant steps have contributed to poverty alleviation in India. According to Niti Ayog's paper
"Multidimensional Poverty in India since 2005-06" around 24.82 crore people have been relieved from the vicious circle of poverty. The paper was released today by Prof Ramesh Chand ,Member of NITI Aayog accompanied by Shri B. V. R. Subrahmanyam, CEO NITI Aayog and other dignitaries who credited the successful policies of the government for reduction in poverty.
The paper exemplifies the fading of poverty in India from 29.17% in 2013-14 to 11.28% in 2022-23. Uttar Pradesh is the leading state which contributes to 5.94 crore people escaping multidimensional poverty followed by Bihar,Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
A profound improvement was observed in all 12 indicators of Multi dimensional poverty Index in the entire study period. India is expected to achieve Sustainable development growth by 2030 if it continues to improve at the same pace.The development initiatives and commitment played a major role in accomplishment. Combating poverty has led to decline in asserting basic facilities which takes India one step closer to become a developed nation and Viksit Bharat in 2047.
