
The Ministry of Education issued guidelines making new law for the coaching centres on Thursday. In addition to issuing regulation the centre also said, "There should be no discrimination on the basis of religion, race, caste, sex, place of birth, and descent ".As the number of private coaching institutes are growing largely in the country the centre has issued the guidelines.The ministry has instructed that no student below 16 years of age or those who are yet to complete their secondary education will be enrolled in the coaching centres.
Along with that the institutes will not publish any advertisements that mislead and not to promise good marks or ranks to parents and students before admission. Teachers appointed in the coaching centres must hold a graduation degree.
Any coaching centre asking for intensive fees or seen indulged in malpractices will be penalized up to one lakh. Every coaching centre to have an established counselling centre if not the registration will be cancelled. Institutes are also responsible for a stable mental peace among students keeping in view the academic pressure and competition.
Moreover the tutors of the institutions are to be trained in a specific manner about mental health. The ministry also focused on a fair fee structure for students in coaching institutes with availability of every receipt.
This move has been directed due to an alarming rise in student suicides in the country, especially in Rajasthan’s Kota, which is often called India’s coaching capital.
