In a historical achievement Panjab University, Chandigarh today signed an MoU with Border Security Force. The MoU was signed by Prof. Yajvender Pal Verma, Register, PU, Chandigarh on behalf of Panjab University & by Sh. P.V. Ramasastry, IPS, Additional Director General headquarter SPL DG (WC) BSF Chandigarh on behalf of BSF.
The main objective of this MoU is academic collaboration. They intend to mutually share sports science facilities and services with a vision to improve the performance of athletes and at the same time conduct certificate courses for the BSF personnel and PU, Chandigarh.
Sports performance Enhancement Centre (SPEC) has state-of-the-art sports performance enhancement facilities. They especially deal with prevention and management of sports injuries with expertise in different fields of sports and physical training. SPEC BSF conducts in-service courses with a focus on boosting an athlete’s potential as well as scientifically improving existing training methodologies.
The intent is to create a pool of skilled professionals who are capable of collaborating the latest scientific approach with the existing conventional techniques, leading to overall enhanced performance and better injury management.
Panjab University, on the other hand, is a potential sport and academic hub of India and is known for producing many world-class athletes and students. University will provide the necessary guidance/assistance and affiliation to the courses being run at SPEC BSF, Chandigarh.
Hence the interexchange of academic & sports social platforms with each other will be beneficial for all. The upcoming players of PU will benefit from SPEC and be able to participate in scientific training programs under scientific expertise.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar was present during that historical moment along with Prof. Jagat Bhushan, COE, Prof. Prashant Kumar Gautam, Director Sports, Prof. Dalwinder Singh, Chairperson Department of Physical Education, Prof. Gurmeet Singh- Department of Physical Education, Prof. Th. Nandalal Singh, Department of Physical Education, Dr. Neeru Malik-Senate Member, Dr. Rakesh Malik, Dy. Director of Sports, Dr. Rakesh Kumar-Physiotherapist, Dr. Manjeet Singh, Sports Science Expert BSF, and many dignitaries’ from BSF.
