In a major relief, Panjab University finally feels a sigh as the graphic finally moves upward after a gap of 8 years in Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2024.
Panjab University has been placed in 1001-1200 rank now, Earlier it had been placed in 1201-1400 rank in 2023. This gradual increase came after a long gap of 8 years. Previously it was 701+(2016, 2017), 801-1000 (2018), 1001+ (2021), 1001-1200 (2022).
However, the 2024 edition has seen some change in methodology as some new parameters including 10% International Student Network and 5% Employment Outcome are also considered this year. There was also a reduction in the percentage of academic reputation from 30 to 20%.
Panjab University got 6.7 in academic reputation, 5.9 in employer reputation, 5.6 in faculty student ratio, 21 citations per faculty, 1.8 international student ratio, 1.9 international research outlook, 29.8 employment outcome and 2.2 in substantially respectively.
This ranking provides a little bit of relief to PU campus as in previous THE and Nirf rankings, PU faced a decline.
It has also been seen that after a long gap of 8 years an Indian Institution managed to get placed in Top 150 in QS World rankings. IIT Bombay topped the list with a rank of 147.
