Pay Hike for Chandigarh teachers

The Directorate of School Education, Chandigarh Administration, has announced the revision of consolidated contractual pay for teachers working in various government schools of the union territory. In accordance with circulars issued by the Finance Department, the pay scale for JBT/NTT teachers, Masters/Mistresses, and Lecturers has been updated. The changes are revised which came into effect from July 1, 2021, with a 31% Dearness Allowance (DA), and from January 1, 2022, with a 34% DA.

However, recipients must adhere to conditions set forth by the Directorate, including approval from the concerned Finance Department and an undertaking regarding potential excess payments which needs to be submitted to their respective DDO.

The Education Secretary, Purva Garg, IAS, highlighted the importance of compliance with the laid-down terms and conditions and the necessity of proper permissions to fill vacant posts on a contractual basis. The revised pay scale aims to address remuneration discrepancies among contractual teachers, thus ensuring equitable compensation in line with changing DA rates.
