Panchkula administration bans adoption and keeping of Pitbull and Rottweiler dog breeds after Pitbull attacks 6 people across states.
On account of recent happenings in the country where Pitbull dogs have attacked at least 6 people in different states over the past two months including an elderly woman in Lucknow who died after a Pitbull attacked and injuring her, in another incident in Ghaziabad earlier this month, a pitbull mutilated a 10-year-old boy with injuries requiring 150 stitches.
In view of many such events, Panchkula Municipal Corporation has issued an order, seeking to ban keeping of Pitbulls and Rottweiler breeds in Panchkula. Residents will no longer be allowed to keep these deadly dog breeds at home, ensuing hefty fines for house keeping these dogs.
The decision has been taken along the lines of Kanpur Municipal Corporation who has made a similar provision of fining ₹ 5,000 to ban these dogs.
It was also known that PETA India has requested Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to crack down on illegal pet stores and such breeders so as to strictly enforce laws against illegal dog keeping.
