A seemingly abandoned house in sector 36, Chandigarh has been catching a lot of attention with a small jungle growing out in its surroundings. People have been calling it a haunted house but it is far from reality as it was occupied by a 90 year old retd. Major Chadha and his 60 year old daughter along with their pet dog, who closed themselves in this house.
As per the neighbours, this house was constructed in 1994 and was occupied by the family of Major Chadha whose son's pet dog bit the judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court in 2003 and since then, the family members rarely came outside from the house.
The house seems to have no viable entry and exit points and people in the neighbourhood are being troubled on a daily basis as snakes, rats and other wild animals have been crossing over to their houses. A complaint was raised by them to Chandigarh administration in August 2021 but no action has been taken even after 6 months of time.
According to the neighbours electricity in the house has been cut since 2019 and water bill is advanced for 2023, also a woman living there throws stones at children playing in the vicinity, even the social welfare team and police were warded off from entry by their pet dog.
A few days back Major Harcharan Singh Chadha and his daughter Jeevjot were rescued from the place and were admitted in GMCH-32, although the hospital has agreed to discharge them at the request of Mr. Chadha's son Sarvpreet Chadha but the administration is denying him their custody till the health report comes meanwhile their house in sector 36 is being cleaned by the horticultural department.
