16 army personnel martyred in a road accident in North Sikkim, 4 injuries reported

In a very unfortunate incident that happened on 23rd December 2022, the Indian army lost 16 of their brave souls to a road accident.

Reportedly, they began their journey in a three vehicle convoy from Chatten to Thangu, out of which one of the vehicles met with an accident in Zena, North Sikkim. The truck skidded while on a steep turn and fell in a deep gorge killing 16 jawans including three Junior Commissioned Officers.

During the immediate rescue mission 4 injured personnel were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Defence minister, Rajnath Singh expressed his deep sorrow regarding the tragic incident.
