Panjab University Board of Finance meeting: Budget of Rupees 789 crore passed, 278 crores to be demanded from Government.
On Wednesday, under Vice Chancellor Renu Vig, Panjab University held its Board of Finance meeting, in which a total budget of 789 crore, has been passed.
Additionally, the University has demanded a sum of rupees 278 crores from both, the Centre and State Government, to pay its arrears for the 7th Pay Commission.
Many senators, have also raised demand for an increase in teachers salaries.
The major limelight, in this meeting, was the Budget for the Multipurpose Auditorium, the Construction of which has been ongoing since 2009, with 69 crores already spent on this project.
However, this time, 31.7 crore more have been passed, on the basis of the terms that monitoring and completion report is now submitted, every month. PU Pulse had earlier reported about the same.
Along with this, salaries of contractual workers has been increased and a commitment was formed to discuss the agenda to increase salaries of senior law and assistant law officers.
In total, the total expenditure will be 78963.66 lakh, out of which internal income is 33232.02 lakh, 36683.42 Lakh is of UGC and 9049.22 lakh of Punjab Grant has been passed as budget
