Every year on the 8th of October we celebrate the Indian Air Force Day as day to pay homage to the countless sacrifices of the Indian Air Force officers in not just protecting the skies but also in number of disaster relief and humanitarian relief operations.
The Air Force in India was officially raised on this day in the year of 1932 by the British Empire as a supporting force of the Royal Air Force of United Kingdom, later in mid 1940s it came to be called Royal Indian Air Force and when in 1950 India became a republic it became Indian Air Force.
Indian Air Force has now grown to be the fourth largest air force in the world which was started its beginning with 6 officers and 19 Hawai Sepoys back in 1933. The resilience of the officers ensured that the force attained success and became one of the strongest air forces in the world.
This year we celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Indian Air Force.
Most importantly, in a historic first, Indian Air Force Day will be celebrated at Chandigarh's Sukhna lake marked by the parade and flypast.
