Today, Home Minister Amit Shah visited Chandigarh.
This was his second visit to the city this year. Strict security measures were followed by the Chandigarh police upon his arrival. Amit Shah arrived at the Punjab Raj Bhawan in the morning, where he started by
attending a Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) confrence.
At the conference, he virtually oversaw the incineration of 30,000 kg drugs at four different locations; Delhi, Chennai, Guwahati, Kolkata. Shah mentioned the zero tolerance policy against drugs that has been adopted nationwide and called for
immediate measures for the mitigation of the extreme drug problem prevalent in Punjab. He said that new forensic labs are being set up to carry out crucial research in alleviating the drug issue.
He also gave the "green flag" to the new local CTU electric buses and later, visited Mauli Jagran to inaugurate the newly built Government Model Schools. The schools included were; Government Model School in Mauli Jagran, Government Model High School in Sector-12 PGI and Government Middle School in Kishangarh.
He also laid the foundation stone for the multilevel parking to be constructed at the ground near the Judicial Academy in Sector 43. His visit was concluded by attending a laser show at Sukhna Lake where he was invited as the chief guest.
