After a lifetime of twist and turns in Chandigarh's Mayoral Election 2024, BJP leader Kuljit Singh Sandhi and Rabindra Kumar has won the Senior Deputy Mayor election and Deputy Mayor elections respectively.
The entire election saga in Chandigarh has been no less than a rollercoaster ride. Earlier the Supreme court cancelled the previous elections and today, elections were held in presence of the new mayor Kuldeep Tita.
Arun Sood of BJP Seems to be a king maker as 3 councillors of AAP joined BJP, in a master stroke, taking their tally to 19.
However one vote of INDIA Bloc alliance has been declared invalid taking their tally to 16.
It has also been speculated that earlier Shiromani Akali Dal Councilor Hardeep Singh Buterla would not caste his vote today, but suddenly when his name was called during polling, he entered and cast his vote.
So, now The Mayor belongs to Aam Aadmi Party and Deputy Mayor and Senior Deputy Mayor is of BJP party, which in turn has majority of BJP councilors in municipal corporation.
