Digital Population clock installed in Panjab University.
The Population Clock has been installed at T Point near USOL by the Population Research Centre(PRC),Panjab University .This clock will have dual population statistics display and will show population figures of Chandigarh as well as of India.
The Digital Population clock is an essential population data tool that is used to estimate the real time population size of a geographical/administrative area. It is helpful in spreading awareness regarding parameters of fertility, mortality,and family planning. Prof. Kumool Abhi , Director of PRC, has informed that the installation of the Population Clock has been funded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and the total cost of installation is Rs.4,03,560.00
The digital population clock was inaugurated by Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, Governor of Punjab and UT Administrator.He also discussed the features of the clock and its benefits for the younger generation. The relevance of Population Clock was also highlighted by Shri S.R. Meena, Director General.
Prof. Renu Vig, Vice Chancellor of Panjab University also discussed issues of population growth.Shri Satya Pal Jain, ADF and former MP was the guest of honor.
