Use social media influencers to disseminate information: PM to police

A three-day annual (Director General Of Police) conference was held in Jaipur, Rajasthan where Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a statement that there is a need to use social media in an effective manner. The PM wants police officers to be trained in cyber crimes and AI related technologies. He said "Instead of working with a ‘danda’ (police baton), the police must now work with ‘data’".

The PM calls the higher level police officers to explore the way of disseminating information of public interest through social media influencers. These influencers have access to a large audience and will be able to persuade knowledge in an authentic manner. This will also help in maintaining a positive image of police among the citizens.

Moreover he advised the use of social media at the police station level to spread positive information. He also suggested using social media to pass on advance information of natural calamities and disaster relief.
