Droupadi Murmu has been elected as India's 15th President today as per the counting of votes casted in Presidential Elections by MPs and MLAs. She crossed the min vote margin of 50 percent votes in the third round itself.
Droupadi is the country's 1st tribal and the second female president, after Pratibha Patil. Murmu has also served as the Governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021 and as an Odisha Minister and MLA from Odisha’s Rairangpur constituency.
