Panjab University will conduct a trial this week for all the thesis related work to be done online. Students will now get to know the positions of their thesis online only without any visits to the registration branch or general branch. Apart from this, the thesis submissions will also be online.
For the upcoming trials in the university, Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig had constituted a committee which had many members including DUI. Furthermore, a sub-committee has been formed from this committee, in which former PUTA President Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Dean Science Prof. Navdeep Goyal, Prof. Anu Gupta etc. were included. In the committee meeting a number of universities and their system of thesis was studied. Punjab University takes separate comments for everything whereas in other universities, the comments are taken overall.
More problems were discussed in the meeting. Simple statements will be clarified for the examiners and additional payment for online examiners will also be considered. Students were used to an offline process that took a lot of time in thesis processing and it was sent through hand or post. Sometimes, though, the examiners also refused to process the further thesis and it has to be sent again. The online process must be regarded as a healing process for the students as they used to face many problems during the offline process in the university.
