Gangster Vikramjeet Singh aka Vikram Brar has been arrested by the NIA upon his deportation to India from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). A team from the federal agency, which had declared Brar a terrorist, went to the UAE to facilitate his deportation.
Brar was, allegedly, actively involved in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. He is wanted in 11 cases, including murder, extortion and smuggling of weapons, and is booked under various sections of IPC, Arms Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Last year, he had sent a death threat to actor Salman Khan and his father, screenwriter Salim Khan.
Brar is a close aide of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and is reported to have been running the Lawrence Bishnoi gang from the UAE, while acting as a bridge between the gang and Khalistani terrorists. He is also known to having been paid by Bishnoi on various occasions.
Absconding since 2020, Vikram Brar was arrested in a terror-gangster conspiracy case, invertigated by the NIA. As per the agency, 'He is facilitating terror activities of the gang in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra'.
According to the NIA, he was acting as a 'communications control room' for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, facilitating calls of Bishnoi and another gangster Goldy Brar, and making extortion calls upon their directions. A resident of Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan, Brar has also been closely associated with Rajasthani gangster Anandpal Singh.
