Meeting held between Chandigarh police and PU officials on the topic of security measures for the upcoming elections.
In view of the upcoming Panjab University Campus Students Council (PUCSC) election 2023, a meeting was held between PU officials and Chandigarh Police at the campus, regarding election-time security and precautions.
In attendance were the Dean Student Welfare (women) Simrit Kahlon, Chief of University Security, SP (City) Mridul and DSP (Central) Gurmukh Singh.
Apart from discussions on routine arrangements, talks were held about students' need to always carry their ID cards, outsiders' entry into the campus, the need to increase vigilance to check outsiders staying at hostels, security at the gate, cameras and overall peace, safety and harmony of the campus.
The University has also submitted a list of tentative dates for holding the elections to the Chandigarh administration. According to PU Vice-Chancellor Renu Vig, it is necessary to conduct the election in the first half of September.
