The hostel allocation process has been made online by PU authorities after a gap of 3 years. But students are facing issues due to lack of information. The institution set up a site for this on July 13. At all levels, workshops have also been held.
The software for online registration has been made by the university's computer centre. The merit list will be published weekly under this system. Previously, the hostel was alloted on the basis of merit but now a first come-first serve policy is there. Applicants that have applied first will be provided with the hostel. If two students from the same class apply on different days, then the one who has applied first will be alloted the hostel, but if both of them apply on the same day, then the hostel will be allotted on a merit-basis. Different waiting lists will be made for different counselling.
The whole process of hostel allotment will be guided by the department authorities under their responsibility.Merit lists for hostels will be generated on Monday of every week and students can apply till Saturday or Sunday evening of every week. This time the hostel allotment process is more transparent and students can see the room alloted to them, therefore no chance of favouritism is there.
Also, students that change their department have to leave the previously alloted hostel seat and only after editing his/her department using HMS ID, candidate will get the hostel. Moreover, there are special arrangements for PWD and sports quota students. In accordance to the rules, DSW will look after these seats.
