After a long hustle bustle, Congress High Commission finally announced the name of Punjab's new Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
But this arose a lot of questions in the mind of people. Along the way, there have been many names in limelight, among which Sukhjinder S. Randhawa's name was at the top and supposedly final. Even Randhawa convoy was just on the way to reach Governor house.
But at the last moment, comes the unexpected play of religion card. Some sources claim that Jakhar was neglected just because he is a Hindu and according to some Congress Ministers, a Hindu can't lead the state of Punjab. Then some leaders like Ambika Soni demanded that a Sikh face should be the CM and Randhawa's name was out in the media.
Now comes the play of another card! The High command chose Charanjit Singh Channi as the CM by playing its Dalit Card, as per sources. It is noteworthy that he was not even in the race before the announcement.
The question is, is the Punjab politics based on religion now? Some sources also claim that earlier SAD had an alliance with BSP to attract Dalit community vote bank, and similarly Congress played their trump card now.
Another way suggests that Sidhu himself wants to be the CM and he was not happy with the decision earlier, so he stopped the decision at last minute and now behind the face of Channi, he wants to play his own game.
So many questions? But still the major question is, why politics is to be played on the basis of religion? What will be the next step of Captain? Will he accept Channi? Will Sidhu-Channi Government fulfill the promises that are left behind?
It would be interesting to see the game of elections 2022!
