Is there a Setback to INDIA Bloc in the centre?

A recent statement by Congress leader Alka Lamba is seen as an internal rift in the newly formed INDIA front. "We have been asked to prepare for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. It has been decided that we will contest on all 7 seats. Seven months are left and all the party workers have been asked to prepare for all seven seats" said Alka Lamba.

This statement came as a surprise for the AAP leaders who then questioned them further. AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar took a dig and stated ,"If they (Congress) don't want to form an alliance in Delhi, then it makes no sense to go for INDIA alliance, it is a waste of time. The party's top leadership will decide whether or not to attend the next meeting of INDIA alliance."

The Congress on Wednesday held a meeting to discuss about the preparations for the Lok Sabha election in Delhi. Party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Party MP Rahul Gandhi were present at the meeting. It was after this meeting only that war of words started between the leaders of these two parties who are ultimately part of the same alliance INDIA at the centre as an opposition to NDA.

Moreover, the INDIA bloc will hold a fresh meeting at the end of this month in Mumbai to discuss a seat sharing formula for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
