Panjab University, Chandigarh is all set to have elections after 2 years. However the official date is not confirmed but it may seem that parties have already decided about the whole scenario. Every party is excited and doing work with more enthusiasm as it is happening after 2 years but it seems that age factor is still a concern for many student leaders.
PU Pulse already raised this question in the past too as there are a number of student leaders who worked hard before COVID-19 but now due to age, they can't contest.
Today SOI members under the leadership of Manjodh Padda met with associate DSW and submitted the memorandum regarding the same.
*Sports board of Association of Indian Universities in its annual general meeting has decided to enhance the age from 26 years to 27 years. Also relaxation of 5 years to OBC/SC/ST, 3 years to LLM degree holders, also 5 years age relaxation to those worked in around forces has been provided to JRF and assistant professors. So, universities should also give relaxation to Post graduation students and research scholars to contest elections." said Manjodh Padda from SOI
However it may seem that earlier a document has also been viral in which age relaxation was given to LLM degree holders but the University denied that document.
Now it's interesting to see that will student leaders get this age relaxation or again this memorandum will become just a piece of paper.
