IIT-BHU Woman Harrassed, Students on Protest
A horrifying incident that occurred yesterday has once again raised questions about women's security. No one expects such an incident to happen in a reputable institution like IIT-BHU or elsewhere.
A female student studying at IIT-BHU was attacked by bike-borne men outside the campus on late Wednesday night. They forcibly kissed her, stripped her, and recorded a video. After this shameful act came to light, thousands of students gathered in protest and demanded strict action against the culprits.
A FIR has been lodged in connection with this incident against three unidentified persons based on a complaint filed by the victim, the police said. On the other hand, the IIT-BHU administration issued a notice stating that "all barricades in the institute shall henceforth be closed from 10 pm to 5 am."
However, despite such protests occurring every time, the question of students' safety and the need for better security arrangements remains a pressing concern.
