India Visa suspension notice for Canadian residents removed by Visa authority

Indian Visa Services had been abruptly suspended for the Canadian travellers for a short duration today. But now the notice has been removed by BLS.

The suspension was announced for a brief duration by the BLS India Visa Application Center, responsible for providing Indian visa services in Canada. It cited "operational reasons" as the cause. However, this seemingly mundane explanation hinted that there are deeper diplomatic issues at play and soonafter the notice was revoked, which has relieved many Indians.

Relations between India and Canada have taken a noticeable nosedive recently. It all started when the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau accused the Indian government of its involvement in the death of Khalistani terrorist Nijjar and also expelled a high-ranking Indian diplomat from the Canadian soil. The Indian government was quick to respond as it rejected all the allegations and promptly sent a top Canadian diplomat packing within five days.

However, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has expressed a desire to de-escalate the situation, emphasizing cooperation. The international community too is keeping a close eye on developments as both nations navigate this diplomatic standoff.
