Delhi Police on Wednesday detained four students after the Left-affiliated Students' Federation of India (SFI) had announced the screening of a controversial BBC documentary on PM Narendra Modi on the University Campus.
Earlier on 24th January, University administration had asked to cancel the screening and threatened to take disciplinary action. Further, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on January 20 used its emergency power to block the controversial documentary.
Jamia VC Najma Akhtar had blamed the SFI for disturbing the peace on campus. 4 students out of 70 protesting students were detained by Delhi Police.
No gathering, meeting of students or screening of any documentary will be allowed without prior permission. SFI members who were protesting outside the University were taken away by the police.
Police deployment scaled outside Jamia. A massive ruckus was observed at 16:18 today.
