NCW (National Commission for Women) partnered with department of laws, Panjab University and Punjab state legal services authority to launch an awareness campaign which will be 4th in series on NRI marriages, organised at Guru Nanak College, Killianwali, District Sri Muktsar Sahib on 1st October 2022.
The event welcomed Sh. Gurpreet Singh, DSP, NRI affairs and Advocate Smt. Manjeet Bedi as resource persons, who progressively stressed about the procedures in NRI marriages as well as legal help available in circumstances where the brides are deceived by NRI grooms.
Prof. (Dr.) Devinder singh, Chairperson, Department of Laws, Panjab University and Smt. Kanchan Khattar, Senior Coordinator, National Commission for Women. The main coordinators of the programme were Prof. (Dr.) Jyoti Rattan, Department of Laws, Panjab University and Dr. Surinder Thakur, Principal, Guru Nanak College, Killianwali, served as the nodal officers present at the venue.
A huge participation was witnessed to the success of the underlying agenda by NCW as more than 200 people marked their attendance and infact included sarpanches from nearby rural areas. The session was interactive and was highly appreciated by the present audience.
