Heavy rains hit Chitkara University: an urgent alert , 47 individuals rescued and 910 students evacuated so far.
BAUT (Boat Assault Universal Type) Army reached Chitkara University University to rescue students. According to the information, 910 students have been evacuated so far. But still nearly 2000 students are stuck at the campus .
It is stated that the constant rainfall in Patiala and surrounding areas, resulted in a breach in Satluj- Yamuna link canal which is adjoining with Rajpura. As a result of which, this area is on a high alert, which left administration with no there option but to call the army for rescue and evacuation operations.
According to students of Chitkara University, the college informed them that the University will remain close till July 16 and can be extended further as well, and they will be getting the official notice about the same shortly. Now moving to official knowledge by college administration itself, it is reported that 14 patients have already been admitted to the nearby Government hospitals whereas two patients are in serious condition.
Things got worse when apart from Rajpura, nearby areas also started getting affected by the breach . As of now in Chausa khurd and Ferozepore, the army has been recruited to help rescue and evacuate people. According to DC of Ferozepore, 25-30 people are still stranded amidst the Satluj river.
As per the army, the condition will get more worse and they stated that the areas near Patiala are on high alert. The breach in river and canal system may affect many areas and many lives.
