PM Modi's France Visit Sets the Stage for Prosperity, gets conferred with the highest award.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Paris on a two-day official visit, receiving a ceremonial welcome at the airport. French Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne greeted PM Modi upon his arrival, signifying the strong diplomatic ties between India and France.

During his address, PM Modi expressed his unwavering commitment to creating a bright future for India and its upcoming generation. In a historic moment, French President Emmanuel Macron bestowed the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour upon PM Modi. This prestigious honor, the highest in French military or civilian orders, makes PM Modi, the first Indian Prime Minister to receive such recognition.

Defense cooperation was a mainstay of bilateral ties with announcements of new deals on engines, submarines and fighter jets in the pipeline. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to give a go-ahead to the major defense deals that are expected to be announced during Modi’s visit to Paris. Besides the Rafale and aircraft engine project, the DAC is also expected to clear procurement of three additional Scorpene submarines.

PM Modi has also announced that Indian students pursuing a master's degree in France will now be given a five-year long-term post-study visa. Earlier, Indian students were given a two-year work visa. This is a significant change as it will allow students to stay longer in France and explore more opportunities after their studies.

France has also become the first European country to embrace the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) solution. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) signed an MoU with Lyra Network of France, allowing Indians to pay with their UPI or RuPay cards while in France. This development is particularly beneficial for Indian students and travelers, offering them convenient payment options and enhancing their overall experience abroad.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to France has been marked by significant events that will shape the future of India-France relations. These developments herald a promising era of collaboration, benefiting Indian citizens and fostering a more prosperous and interconnected world.
