In a moment of pride and recognition, 18 scientists from Chandigarh's Panjab University (PU) and 23 from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) have found their names on Stanford University's prestigious list of the world's top 2% scientists. The list, compiled annually by California-based Stanford University, celebrates the exceptional contributions of scientists across the globe based on their research and innovation.
Led by Stanford University Prof. John Ioannidis and his team of experts, this carefully curated list signifies the pinnacle of scientific achievement. Professor John PA Ioannidis devised a specialized matrix to assess the impact of a scientist's work. This matrix categorizes scientists into 22 fields, with each field further divided into 174 sub-areas. To qualify for consideration, a scientist must have published a minimum of five papers in their respective field.
This year's list includes UIPS's Bhupinder Singh Bhup, SK Kulkarni, Indupal Kaur, Kanwaljit Chopra, OP Katare, Anurag Kuhar, VR Sinha, Renu Chadha, Anil Kumar, researchers Garima Sharma and Gajanand Sharma. From Physics MM Aggarwal and SK Tripathi. Harsh Nayyar, Daisy Rani Batish, Santosh Kumar Upadhyay are from Botany. Sonal Singhal, Surinder Kumar Mehta, Gurjaspreet Singh and Navneet Kaur of Chemistry. Sushil Kumar Kansal, Sanjeev Gautam, Gargi Ghoshal from UICET. Environment Department's Harminder Pal Singh and Suman Mor.
