Indian Education system is one of the largest in the world with about 14.9 lakh schools,95 lakh teachers and nearly 26.5 crore students.
In the recent Performance Grading Index released by Education Ministry of the country Punjab and Chandigarh has topped the position while Kerala and Maharashtra both got the second position in the grading.The top grades for learning outcomes,equity and infrastructure has been bagged by Punjab, Chandigarh and Rajasthan.
The highest achievable grade is Daksh that can be achieved by gaining 940 points out of 1000.However no state or union territory of the country have managed to do so.The most poor performing states are Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Mizoram.
In 2019-20 this index was topped by Punjab, Chandigarh,Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andaman and Nicobar and during the Covid period Kerala, Maharashtra and Punjab emerged as Best Performers.
