Rajpath will now be renamed, soon to be known as Kartavya Path

Rajpath which was known as Kingsway during the British Rule, will be now renamed Kartavya Path, after 20 months of redevelopment on 8th September.

PM Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the redeveloped Central Vista on 8th September, some portions will open on the same day while the stretch from India gate to Rashtrapati Bhawan will be opened on September 9

An official of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) said that renaming of historic Rajpath and Central Vista lawns in the National Capital as 'Kartavya Path' will soon be done. Prime Minister earlier had also laid emphasis on abolition of symbols relating to colonial mindset. Sources said a Council meeting is likely to be held on September 7.
