A shocking incident occurred in Tarn Taran district of Punjab on Saturday at around 1 a.m. . An RPG was found at Saanjh Kendra located just next to Sarhali police station. It is assumed that the fired RPG's target was the police station but somehow it deviated after hitting it's iron gate and went into the Sanjh Kendra.
A minor damage was done to the entrance and windows including some other buildings around. At the time of attack, a few of the officials and police personnel including the SHO were present there. Fortunately, the rocket did not explode. If it had, a considerable amount of damage would have been done.
It is suspected that the grenade was fired from the direction of National Highway 54 and the possibility of a terror attack has not been ruled out yet. A similar attack by a rocket launcher was also done on mohali's police station in May this year.
Punjab DGP, Gaurav Yadav and other
senior officials with the forensic team have reached the place of the incident and are investigating the issue further.
