Haryana Police has enforced Section 144 in Ambala amidst farmers protests for their rights.
Rising tensions and protests have been noticed in various regions of Punjab and Haryana, as farmers at multiple locations are organising strikes and protests, for their rights.
Amidst the farmer protest on going in Ambala, the Haryana Police has implemented Section 144 in the region, to take control of the situation.
The farmers have been asking for subsidies and an economic relief, amidst huge losses being faced by them due to floods in Punjab and Haryana, caused by heavy rains.
Farmer-Leader Suresh Koth quotes that the demand for their rights, is not the demand of only Farmers in Haryana, but rather that of Farmers in Punjab as well; unless all their demands are met, they would not take back the protest. He also states, that this protest would not disturb the traffic flow of roadways.
A meeting has been set up between Haryana Government and the farmers, on 24th August where the farmers’ demands of subsidies and reliefs and MSPs will be discussed.
Notably, a protest on the same had been organised in Panjab University, in Chandigarh the previous day.
