Indian football team captain, Sunil Chhetri announced his retirement from international football on 16th May 2024. He will retire after the FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Kuwait in Kolkata on June 6.
He puts an end to the glorifying career of 20 years in football. Chhetri via a video post on his social media announced about his retirement. He is the highest scorer from India.
Meanwhile, a twist of fate or coincidence can be seen that Chhetri will play his last match in Kolkata ,his city where he started football from and made his first debut.
Moreover, the cricket world too paid tribute to Sunil Chhetri after his big announcement. IPL franchises like KKR, MI and RCB took to their social media handles to share tributary posts for Chhetri.
