Friday came as a shock to the entire political community of Panjab University, Rajkaran Baidwan, a well known face in the university politics, former member of NSUI, joined PUSU.
The joining ceremony of Baidwan was organised in the epicenter of PU politics, the Coffee house of the student centre, he officially became a member of the party in the presence of party president, Bhupinder Singh Virdi and the other prime leaders of the party.
The party president of PUSU, in his speech mentioned the unique identity of PUSU, that is being non-political and having no political backing, he said that he is very confident of Baidwan and his work till now.
After becoming officially a member of the party, he went on to target the political parties like NSUI, CYSS and ABVP, he highlighted the fact that PU politics has lost its very core essence and value, instead of being about the voice of students and their problems, it has been converted into a launching pad for national and regional level politics.
He urged all the non-political parties of Panjab University and affiliated colleges to come together to form a united front, a front which works for PU, its students and their welfare rather than promoting the agenda of any political party.
He said that only if PUSU is given a chance to enter the council, then only the good old days of PU and its political atmosphere can come back.
With the elections round the corner, PU politics seems to be nothing but a high voltage drama, with Bigg Boss OTT over now, the PU students and fans of the reality show can find that entertainment in the upcoming elections.
