Twitter trends 'Boycott Cadbury' after netizens worry it contains 'beef'

Recently, amidst all the Bollywood, political and social topics that start trending on Twitter, India's most beloved chocolate brand 'Cadbury' also found its spot in the trending list.

A screenshot is being circulated that mentions the chocolate manufactured by Cadbury contains gelatin that is "halal certified and derived from beef". This is highly controversial because it hurts Hindu sentiments and people have strong opinions against it. Prachi Sadhvi, a Hindu political activist has also objected to its recent Diwali advertisement that mentions the name 'Damodar' which is also Narendra Modi's father's name, and claims that it has been portrayed in a bad light.

Even though Cadbury is yet to respond to the recent boycott trend, it has to be noted that the circulating screenshot is from an older version of its Australian website. In 2021, similar concerns were raised about the chocolates being completely vegetarian. In a reply to that Cadbury claimed that the green dot on the wrappers is reliable and that they would never betray their consumers.
