Vice chancellor, registrar of DDU, Gorakhpur thrashed by ABVP members.
In a shocking event, ABVP activists chased and beat up the Vice Chancellor and the Officiating Registrar of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya University Gorakhpur over alleged irregularities in the varsity. Vandalisation of the chamber of Vice Chancellor was also reported. Not only this, the policemen who intervened in order to calm down the chaos were also assaulted.
The members of ABVP had been protesting against certain issues in the university and the refusal of university officials to meet the protestors resulted in all of this chaos. Earlier, on 13th July Protestors staged a demonstration on the university campus by burning the effigy of the Vice-Chancellor. As a result, the vice chancellor reportedly listened to the problems of the students and assured them that they would be resolved soon. But on the contrary, 4 of the members of ABVP were suspended by the dean.
On Friday, when protestors went to meet the Vice Chancellor, he refused to talk which enraged the activists leading to a ruckus. The police tried to convince the students to stop but all in vain. The police then decided to take the university officials out of the campus safely but were stopped by the mob midway.
Vice-chancellor Rajesh Singh and officiating registrar Ajay Singh, were beaten up along with some policemen. In order to take things under control, police resorted to lathi charge.
