For the last few days, Uttarakhand has been struggling with big forest fires. Sadly, some people have died because of these fires. One of them was a 65-year-old lady named Savitri Devi. She got hurt while trying to stop a fire on her farm. Some others also lost their lives, including a 28-year-old woman and three workers.
These fires are not just making people sad; they are also making life hard. Flights at Pithoragarh's Naini-Saini airport have stopped because of the smoke, making it tough for people to travel. But there's some hope. The weather forecast says it might rain from May 7-8, and the rain could get heavier from May 11. This rain could help put out the fires, giving people some relief. It's good news amidst all the trouble.
Moreover, A video posted on Instagram has gone viral on social media,The viral video features a young man wearing a red t-shirt who proudly declares, "Hello guys, we are finally doing our work of setting fire. Our job is to set fire and play with fire. We play with fire now and then. We have come here to do the same; we will burn the mountain to ashes..." These people were later booked by police as they were caught by forest department while setting the fires in the forest.
The government is also doing things to help. They are telling people not to burn grass for a week to stop more fires. They are also making sure officials watch the fires closely. This way, they can try to stop the fires from getting worse.
