Auto Catches Fire in Chandigarh's Mauli Jagran
On a surprising Saturday night, at around 3 AM, an auto with a Punjab license plate suddenly caught fire in Chandigarh's Mauli Jagran area. The driver's hands also got burned due to the same incident.
This auto had accumulated 133 tickets for breaking traffic rules, such as driving dangerously, running red lights, and crossing streets improperly. This happened from August 14, 2022, to September 9, 2023. In just the last month, 15 tickets were issued, mostly during late-night hours.
The driver's name is Amrit, and he resides in Hallo Majra. However, the government website had the vehicle listed under the name of Rajesh Kumar from Mubarakpur. A ticket was issued on September 9, right before the fire at 1:42 AM.
Most of these challans were a result of rule-breaking on roads like Centra Mall Road, Tribune Chowk Road, Piccadily Chowk Road, Labour Chowk Road, Airport Light Point Road, Aroma Light Point Road and Housing Board Light Point Road . These violations often involved ignoring red lights and not following pedestrian crossings.
It is evident that the auto that caught fire had a history of breaking traffic rules, especially late at night, which resulted in all these fines. The Mauli Jagran police are now investigating the incident.
