BJP in Haryana: 3 Independent MLAs Withdraw Support
In Haryana, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) faced a setback as three Independent MLAs withdrew their support. The MLAs like Sombir Sangwan, Randhir Singh Gollen, and Dharampal Gonder - made this decision public during a press conference in Rohtak, citing concerns, especially regarding farmers' issues.
They announced their allegiance to the Congress party in the presence of prominent leaders like former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state Congress chief Udai Bhan. This move leaves the BJP with a diminished strength in the Haryana Assembly, now functioning as a minority government.
Consequently, there are calls for the current Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, to resign as he no longer possesses the mandate to govern due to the loss of majority support. The situation underscores the political uncertainty in the region ahead of upcoming elections.
