Chandigarh Mayor Elections: Anup Gupta of BJP won the Mayoral elections with 15 votes

Chandigarh Mayor elections witness a clean way this time as Jasbir Singh of the AAP and Anup Gupta from the BJP were in the run for the post of mayor, while the BJP’s Kanwarjeet Rana and the AAP’s Taruna Mehta are contesting for the post of senior deputy mayor.

Both AAP and BJP had 14-14 votes and BJP had one additional vote of MP Kirron Kher. It seems that there is no cross voting held.

Earlier, The Chandigarh Congress and SAD had earlier decided to abstain from voting.

The elections were conducted at 11am at the Assembly Hall of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation.
