CREST gifts Chandigarh five 56 EV charging stations, Green Flag shown by UT administrator .

CREST has successfully achieved its target of energizing 56 charging guns at five different locations across Chandigarh. The charging stations are expected to be ready by January 31, 2024.

After a prolonged wait, CREST and MC have mutually agreed upon five locations, resolving the previous dispute. The installation work is nearly complete with everyone's approval.

The five stations listed for Phase 1 are as follows:

- 12 Car Bazar Parking Area, Manimajra

- 12 Palm Garden, Sector 42

- 12 Botanical Garden, Sarangpur

- 12 Japanese Garden (Part 1)

- 8 Japanese Garden (Part 2), Sector 31

The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission has established Rs 4 per unit and Rs 100 as a fixed monthly charge on the electricity bill for EV charging stations. This initiative propels Chandigarh towards enhanced affordability and a cleaner city. The UT of Chandigarh has a draft EV policy in place, including the installation of 1000 EV chargers by 2030.
