"Digi Yatra services" to roll out at Chandigarh Airport soon, no big queues and easy travelling.
Currently active at 13 Indian Airports , the Digi Yatra services are now set to be rolled out at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh too including 14 other cities like Patna, Chennai and Indore. By the end of 2024, Indian Government aims to cover 95% of Indian Air- passenger traffic, with 34 airports.
Digi Yatra service is being provided by "Digi Yatra Foundation", a non- profit organization and it aims to offer a secure, comfortable and efficient air-travelling experience to the passengers with "Facial-recognition technology" which allows passengers in queue to proceed through security checkpoints quicker. The service may also be catering to International travellers soon with e-passports.
However, the safety of accessing these services is being questioned by masses through various social media platforms as there is uncertainity of where the provided online data of passengers, especially the biometrics data is being stored. Such claims have been denied by the government and Press Information Bureau has updated on their official website that the data is collected with consent, is encrypted and is stored at only passengers' mobile devicesdevices
