Recently, an important hearing regarding the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation mayor election between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress's I.N.D.I.A. took place in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Both political organizations have suffered as a consequence of the High Court's ruling.
The High Court ordered the submission of a thorough report within the next three weeks and declined to put stay on the mayor elections. Furthermore, the petitioners request for an accelerated hearing was denied.
With this Election, records had been requested to be seized by the petitioners. The administration rejected the petitioners' request, stating that the records had already been sealed and kept safe in the strong room.
This hearing tells about complexity and intensity of the political landscape in Chandigarh. The High Court's upcoming detailed report is eagerly awaited and the next hearing will be going to held on 26th February.
