The cabinet sub-committe, formed by the Himachal Pradesh government, to discuss the state's claim over Chandigarh and projects run by the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), held its meeting in Shimla on Monday. It was presided over by Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar, in the presence of Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi and Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan.
Here, the energy department was instructed to bring the Shanan Hydroelectric project, located 2 km from the HP border, under the HP government, post the expiry of its lease. The share of power for the state from this project is 7.19% as decided by the Supreme Court in September 2011.
In relation to another state neighbouring Chandigarh, the UT administration had recently decided to allot 10 acres of land on the IT Park Road in Chandigarh, to Haryana Government for construction of the state's Vidhan Sabha. In exchange for that, 12 acres of land near Saketri village in Haryana, has been demarcated to be handed over to the UT. Small pillars, numbered 1 to 18, have been installed in the area for the purpose of the demarcation.
The Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner, while speaking to a prominent media portal, said that a meeting will be held with the Haryana government, by the end of this month, upon the submission of the demarcation report and the non-encumbrance certificate.
