The teaching and non teaching-staff of the privately managed Government aided Colleges of Chandigarh are still waiting for the benefits of the UGC 7th pay central pay commission.
The verdict of Hon. High court dated January 21,2023 clearly states that it is the sole responsibility of M.H.A. to implement the Rules in The Union Territory of Chandigarh. It also states that the rules of Any other state cannot be extended to U.T. Chandigarh.
Currently the teaching and non teaching staff is concerned that their problems will remain unsolved as the administration will soon be busy in Preparing for the G-20 Summit scheduled to be held in the city. Teaching staff's unrest about this situation is justified because even after the 7th pay commission was notified, their salaries are not yet granted. In case of the non-teaching staff the revised pay scales have not even been notified in government aided colleges, even though they have been notified in other government colleges.
Such concerning issues in the city which is home to some prominent institutions where students from all over the country seek admissions is alarming. The concerned parties have clearly stated that if their demands continue to be ignored by the authorities they will be left with no other option but to start a huge strike against the authorities , which will clearly have a negative impact on the education of the students and the image of these prestigious institutions.
